Plate 01 · Introduction

Learn bitcoin at the pace of a season.

Nectary is a plain-language field guide to bitcoin. We explain how the network and its supply work, how compounding behaves over long stretches of time, and how to test a scenario before any money moves. The pace is slow on purpose.

Plate 02 · Specimen

A slow start

A sprout, drawn once. Most growth is slow enough to miss unless you come back to it.

Plate 03 · Supply

Twenty-one seeds

One seed for each million coins under the cap. The layout is an illustration, not a data chart.

Bitcoin's protocol caps total issuance at 21 million coins. We picture that ceiling as twenty-one seeds, and the spiral follows the golden angle, the spacing many real seed heads use to pack growth into a fixed space.

Plate 04 · Arithmetic

Compounding in one line

Value = Start × (1 + rate) to the power of years

Growth earns growth. Each period's return is added to the balance, and the next period's return is calculated on that larger balance.

Small differences in rate, repeated across many years, produce large differences in outcome. The calculator lets you change the rate and the time side by side so you can see that effect for yourself.

Plate 05 · Practice

Three habits we teach

  1. Choose a time horizon before you choose an asset. Money you need next year does not belong in a ten-year plan.
  2. Write down the worst month you could live with, in money and in mood, before you buy anything.
  3. Learn custody before you hold anything worth protecting. Keys matter more than charts.

Plate 06 · Issuance

New coins halve in steps

Bitcoin's protocol creates new coins as a reward for each block added to the ledger. That reward started at 50 bitcoin per block and is cut in half at roughly four-year intervals, an event called a halving. The reward has been 3.125 bitcoin per block since the 2024 halving.

Plate 07 · Audience

Who Nectary is for

Nectary is written for curious adults who have heard a great deal about bitcoin and want the structure beneath the headlines.

You might be comparing ways to save, holding a small amount and wanting to understand it, or explaining the subject to someone you care about. You do not need a technical background. You do need patience with a slower kind of reading.

Plate 08 · Commitments

What we will not do

  • We will not predict prices or suggest when to buy, sell, or hold.
  • We will not accept sponsorships, paid placements, or referral fees hidden inside our pages.
  • We will not publish testimonials, reviews, or statistics that we cannot explain step by step.
  • We will not ask for passwords, seed phrases, private keys, or account codes, ever.

Plate 09 · Route

Where to start

Read the field guide from top to bottom once. Then open the calculator and test a scenario you can explain in one sentence.

Read first

Not financial, legal, or medical advice.

Nectary is educational. It does not recommend buying, selling, or holding any asset, it does not forecast prices, and it does not know your circumstances. Crypto assets can lose most or all of their value, and they can be hard to recover if access is lost. Before you make decisions about money, speak with a licensed professional who can see your whole picture.
